About Me

A woman with long dark hair and bangs, smiling, sitting outdoors at a restaurant or cafe with pink flowers and greenery in the background.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change” - Carl Rogers

  • Growing up as a 1.5-generation immigrant from Hong Kong to Canada, and later, moving to United States to pursue higher education taught me early on that identity is not one fixed thing. I often felt caught between identities as a third-culture kid, unsure of where my voice fit, longing for a sense of belonging I struggled to name.

  • When I first moved to Canada, an early experience working with a social worker who struggled to understand me created a turning point, and eventually inspired me to step into this field myself.

This journey taught me that healing isn’t about fixing who you are, it’s about having someone who stands beside you while you find your way back to yourself.

  • Therapy, to me, is like a shared journey in a car. I’m beside you, offering perspective, insight, and gentle guidance as we explore possible directions together while you’re in the driver seat, deciding on your destination.

My role is to help you find potential routes, name roadblocks, watch for blindspots, and most importantly, to be with you - celebrating wins and supporting you through challenges along the way.

  • Outside of sessions, you can find me at a pottery studio shaping something imperfect and handmade, curled up with a book, testing out a new recipe, or exploring new restaurants in the city. I’m also passionate about coffee and love checking out new cafes with my husband and my dog, Oatmeal (who you may hear in sessions every now and then!)

  • If you’re here because you feel alone, lost, and often misunderstood, you’re in the right place. Healing often begins the moment you feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood, and you start to trust your own voice. That internal shift, when someone reflects your experience back to you with acceptance and care, is often where lasting change starts.

Why "Mindful Roots Collective"?

Why "Mindful Roots Collective"?

The practice name, Mindful Roots Collective, is inspired by the song "Roots Before Branches” by Room For Two.

It reflects a core truth: in order to grow into who you want to be, you must first understand who you are.

My practice is built on this idea. We focus on exploring your history, patterns, and values…your roots: through mindfulness and compassion. This process builds the self-awareness and stability needed for lasting, authentic change.

Healing begins within, but it deepens when held collectively. When you care for your inner world, you open the door to more connected and authentic relationships beyond it.

The journey to the life you want starts with a single, vital step: by showing up, just as you are.

Let’s discover your roots, together.
