Relationship Issues
Relationships shape so much of how we move through the world, through romantic partnerships, friendships, and the evolving relationships we have with our family members. For many young professionals in NYC, the fast pace can make it hard to stay connected, address conflict, or even understand what you truly need. And for Asian American and BIPOC clients, cultural expectations, emotional restraint, and unspoken family roles often add another layer to how you show up with others.
Navigating relationships with immigrant parents as an adult can feel especially complex: wanting independence while still feeling responsible, slipping back into old roles, or struggling to balance your needs with family values. You may crave closeness but feel unsure how to bridge the gap.
In sessions, we’ll explore the patterns that repeat, look at the emotions that shape your reactions, and examine the places where boundaries feel hard to hold or communicate. Over time, therapy can help you strengthen your sense of self in relationships, express your needs more confidently, and build connections that support your growth.
